Max HP for your die + your Con score (not your con modifier) + racial modifier
Racial HP Modifier Example: A human fighter with a Con of 15 would start with: (hit die) + (Con score) + (Racial Modifier) 10 + 15 + 4 = 29

Hit points at level
Each even level you get half your hit die in HP. Each even level you get your full hit die in HP. Every 4th level (4, 8, 12, 16, 20) you get your racial modifier in addition to your hit die HP.
I have added a lot of extra hit points. I find the game to be too deadly for my taste at low levels. It sucks the fun out of it for me when a player needs 4 characters to make it to 3rd level. I decided to front-load the HP for this reason. As the game goes on you will still trend slightly higher than normal. We are playing with Beta Test rules and I prefer to err on the side of the players. I can always shift things down if it is too easy. I suspect it will not be too easy by the time we get to 3rd level or so. There will just be less resting.
I may have to make some changes to the healing spells to account for the higher HP totals. I’ll work on that as needed.
We will be using the purcase method described on page 5 of the rules. This will be an Epic Fantasy game so you will make a character with 25 points as described on Table 2-2
